CORRIE SAMS - "Music is a family tradition for me. We never had any famous musicians in our lineage, but the music was always there and loved.   I hope to carry on that tradition and bring the gift of music to others that they might have the joy of it throughout their lifetime."

Growing up in a family where music was an almost daily occurrence, Corrie Sams took some piano lessons when she was young.   This set the foundation for her to learn the accordion when, in 2000, she began learning to play an accordion that had been gifted to her in 1998.    She was self-taught until 2005 when she discovered that accordion teachers did, indeed, exist.  It was then that she had the privilege of meeting Patricia Bartell and beginning her studies with her.

Since then, Corrie has had the opportunity to compete in both the Kimberly International Accordion Championships and the Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration.  She has had the pleasure of being part of the Spokane Accordion Ensemble and is now an enthusiastic member of The Portatos, a young radical accordion band.  Now that she is part of the Able to Play Studio team, Corrie feels honored to be able to teach such a ground-breaking method as Simply Music.

"I am pleased to have Corrie Sams on board as a teacher at Able To Play Studio! She has a sweet disposition and creates a fun environment for teaching.  Her students love her and look forward to their lessons." - Patricia Bartell, Founder and Director of Education of Able To Play Studio.

KURT WISMER - started piano lessons at age six.  He has been in several piano adjudications and many recitals.  One day he found an accordion at a thrift store for $100 and soon after he was introduced into a Christmas Youth Accordion Orchestra.  Immediately after the season was over, some of the players from the youth orchestra remained and formed a new group that became “The Portatos.”  With the Portatos, Kurt has traveled to several states and Canada for competitions and concerts.  Through his experiences of music he now wants to share the ability to play an instrument and have fun in the process.  Kurt has recently finished his training with the Simply Music Method and find that this unique way of learning gets students playing on their first lesson quickly.

"Kurt is a dedicated and thoughtful musician.  He is joining Able To Play Studio as a Simply Music Piano teacher and a Simply Music Accordion Teacher.  With his experience and personality, he is great asset to the studio.  Welcome aboard Kurt!” - Patricia Bartell, Founder and Director of Education of Able To Play Studio.
